Serving in Vietnam in 1970 I experienced an Out of Body phenomena. It happen in the late night. I arose from my bunk to see my own body still on the bunk. I walked out of the hooch into the falling rain. I could see the raindrops in slow motion. I walked through them into the darkness of the jungle. After a time I entered a clearing and walked into the middle of a fire fight between US troops and NVA . No one could see or hear me. Then I was draw extremely fast back into my body. I told this to the buddies in my unit the next morning. They sneered and laughed. Then in came the Dust Off choppers with dead and wounded. Their account of the battle matched mine, laughter turned to fear and I was shunned. Fear overcame understanding.
